Being ME: Muslim Women’s International Conference
This women-only conference engages and empowers the modern Muslimah.
Ladies, mark your calendars. An international conference consisting of a series of programmes that aim to recognise and inspire the roles of modern Muslim women will touch down on June 30th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Being ME – Muslimah Empowered is a platform that seeks to encourage and empower Muslimahs by showcasing their achievements and providing the opportunity to discuss the struggles within their multiple roles in life. Attendance is open only to women.
Being ME will comprise a series of workshops, fashion shows, a marriage corner and a Muslimah awards ceremony, to name a few. Ten internationally acclaimed speakers will appear at the conference, including journalist Yasmin Mogahed, writer Raya Shokatfard, spokeswoman and speaker Myriam Francois-Cerrah and Sheikh Yahya Ibrahim of AlKauthar Institute, Australia. There will also be must-see performances by UK nasheed artist-cum-hafiz Kamal Uddin, a poetry monologue by ADNI Islamic school and a Qur’an recitation by Sharifah Khasif.
Being ME is organised by Mercy Mission Malaysia, an organisation dedicated to serving the needs of the Muslim community. Some of Mercy Mission’s other projects are the AlKauthar Institute and the Twins of Faith Family Festival. Following the conference in KL on June 30th, the conference will next be held in Toronto, Canada on 6 October.
