Afia R Fitriati reports on a fabulous hijabi fashion show and gets the scoop on the next event.

Talented ladies abound on the tiny island of Singapore, the LACE II event held on June 16 seemed to proclaim. The fashion show, held at the Landmark Village Hotel, showcased the latest designs from familiar labels such as Sophia Jennah, KFashion Line, Qamra Couture and Lulu Alhadad, as well as blooming designers Myrah Marsya, Nerlie and Rea Jasmine. The splendid fashion show was attended by around 200 fashionable guests, some having come from as far as Brunei and Kuala Lumpur.

‘[It] was really heart-warming to know guests from abroad had made the trip,’ said Masturah, the organiser of the event.

The fashion show featured ready-to-wear designs that ranged from casual to formal attire. Pastel and bright colours dominated the featured collections, expressing the confidence and the colourful personalities of the designers. At this year’s event, guests were able to take a closer look at the apparel and had more interaction with the participating designers compared to last year.

‘[We] wanted to host an exclusively intimate event and to ensure better interaction… [so] the event was divided to two sessions to cater to more people within the intimate venue,’ Masturah explained.

The guests were not only pampered by the sight of beautiful fabrics. Singers Ridwan Ramli and M Saffri appeared during the intermissions and charmed the audience with their enchanting voices.

‘Alhamdulillah, guests who attended the event enjoyed themselves throughout the programme. We ensured none of the guests returned home empty handed as each went home with customised door gift sets, and the lucky ones won prizes,’ beamed Masturah.

All in all, the LACE II event surely lived up to its abbreviation: Luxury, Aura, Charisma and Elegance.

Asked whether she already had envisioned plans for LACE III, Masturah answered, ‘The organising committee would like to take a break for now. L.A.C.E III will insha’Allah be in two years’ time with the same main motive, which is to provide a platform for talented designers showcasing their unique designs on a fashion runway, encouraging entrepreneurship among online sellers, as well as widening the network of fashion in Singapore and abroad. However, [it] will have a totally new concept from LACE and LACE II. But we’re not telling you now!’ she chuckled.

So, ladies, stay tuned to hear future updates on LACE III!
