Russia’s premier trade show for halal products and services will also feature an Islamic fashion show. Afia R Fitriati has the details.
More than a hundred Russian and foreign companies are set to take part in this year’s Moscow Halal Expo – a four-day event aimed to promote the trade of halal products and services in Russia.
With the number of Muslims growing within the country, the demand for products imbibed with Islamic values is rising as well. To facilitate this growth, the annual Moscow Halal Expo has been organised to serve as a platform of cultural and knowledge exchange among the industry’s players.
This year’s Moscow Halal Expo will take place from the 13th till the 16th of June in the All-Russia Exhibition Center (VVC), pavilion No 75. So far, registered exhibitors come from as far afield as Tunisia and Turkey.
On the evening of June 15th, a fashion show featuring the Islamic Style International Festival will be staged in the exhibition’s conference hall. Several Russian labels that will be showcased include Rezeda Suleyman, Irada, Bella Kareema, Plum and Rimma Alyamova.
The Moscow Halal Expo, which started in 2010, is organised by the Council of Muftis of Russia, an organisation that serves as a uniting platform for Muslims from the 70-over regions of the Russian Federation. It is approximated that Muslims make up 14 percent of the country’s population.
