Big names featured at hijabi event organised by Dian Pelangi wow adoring crowds in Jakarta.
What do you get when a bunch of bloggers extraordinaire get together? Blogging tips, of course! Earlier this month, on a lovely Saturday afternoon in Jakarta, three fabulous Malaysian bloggers—Shea Rasol, Ami Schaheera and Jezmine Zaidan—took the stage to discuss the ins and outs of their fashion blogging experiences that led them to venture into the world of online markets. The trio were the special guests at a talk show that was part of Sisterhood, a two-day pre-Ramadhan event organised by Indonesian fashion prodigy Dian Pelangi. Indonesia’s Hanna Faridl and Fifi Alvianto of Hijab-Scarf.com hosted the show and occasionally shared their own insights on blogging and online selling.
Ami, a former fashion writer for Marie Claire Malaysia, stressed the importance of featuring unique products and regularly coming up with new, interesting themes. Shea added that a successful blogger is one who is able to earn the trust of her followers. The way to do that, she said, is by being sincere in one’s writing, before going on to recommend making posts fun and humorous to engage readers. Jezmine added that, especially in the realm of fashion, a picture is worth a million words in the virtual world because images can persuade, convince and eventually convert people into followers, and even customers. On that note, Hanna and Fifi asked the guests to show their favourite poses in front of the audience. The talk show concluded with hijab tutorials by the bloggers and a Q & A session.
Sisterhood was a one-of-a-kind event that brought together hijab fashionistas from various corners of the world to Jakarta. In addition to Shea, Ami and Jezmine, two very special guests were flown in from the UK to meet and greet their Indonesian fans on day two of Sisterhood. Designer Hana Tajima of Style Covered and Maysaa and designer/stylist Dina Toki-o, who incidentally happens to be a columnist with Aquila Style, both received heaps of love from enthusiastic fans. Rounding out the wonderful weekend were a fashion-forward fashion show, bazaar and the launch of Hijab Street Style, a new book by Dian Pelangi.
