Surabaya to Host Fashion Festival
Fashion-related competitions, a fashion bazaar and fashion shows are set to light up Surabaya from October 5th – 7th.
After a number of Islamic fashion festivals were held in Jakarta and Bandung earlier this year, the East Java capital of Surabaya, Indonesia will host a similar event in October. The Moslem Fashion Festival is a three-day festival comprising a series of fashion-related competitions, a fashion bazaar and fashion shows by up-and-coming designers from eastern Indonesia, as well as notable names in the country’s Islamic fashion industry.
The Moslem Fashion Festival will be held at Royal Plaza between the 5th and 7th of October. This is the third year the Royal Plaza is hosting such an event. Last year, the festival invited seasoned Indonesian designers Irna Mutiara and Anne Rufaidah to feature their collections on the catwalk. This year, fashion designers from eastern Indonesia will have the opportunity to showcase their creations on the first two days of the festival. Some names include Alphiana Candrajani, Lia Afif, Yuyuk Nurmaisyah, Lilik Suhariyati, Ayok Dwipancara and Elok Rege Napio. Designs from renowned designers Nunik Mawardi, Hani Hananto, and Monika Djufrie will appear during the last day of the festival.
In addition to fashion shows, the festival will also host a hijab creation competition, a photography competition and an Islamic bridal fashion design competition.
