Aphrodite’s Rock – Cyprus, Greece
What better place to find true love than where the Greek goddess of love, beauty and sexuality herself emerged? This place is where Aphrodite is said to have materialised from the sea foam and before being carried gently on a scallop shell to the shore. Legend has it that love-seekers who swim naked out to the rock during full moon, circling it once, will find their true loves.

This castle stands atop Lovers' Well, where the legend of Omar, the son of a high-ranking Ottoman-Empire nobleman, and Fatima, the beautiful young slave of the castle’s haughty lord, is based. Omar approached the lord of the castle about exchanging their Christian prisoners or slaves for Muslim ones. While the lord was not opposed to this, he did however forbid the exchange of Fatima, despite Omar’s generous offerings of gold and silver. However, the lord finally agreed to give Fatima to Omar under one condition: that Omar provided a source of water from the rock upon which the castle was built. And thus, Omar dedicated many years (some say three; others say 40) of his life digging until he arrived at some muddy water, which was good enough for the lord. The lord kept his word, Fatima was handed over to Omar, and today, you can see cafés and such around the city dedicated to the lovebirds. '>
