While you’re taking in the major sights in Morocco, don’t forget to spot these humble pieces of art. Words and images by Sya Taha.

If you travel to Morocco, you can’t help but marvel at all things big and small around you. While your eyes may gaze at the minarets of countless mosques, or your hand may rifle through baskets of sparkly goods in the markets, give a few moments for the banal and the everyday.
On floors of houses and hotels, walls of doorways and public baths, and every surface of water fountains, tiles of all colours and sizes have been lovingly put together to provide protection and decoration to their surfaces.
Each piece houses a design in its own right – easily replicated by simple rotation and infinite repetition.
