Islamicwear Picks: Jakarta Fashion Week 2012

The 4th annual Jakarta Fashion Week took place in November last year. Amongst its spread of couture goodies are a number of noteworthy Islamicwear labels. By Laila Achmad.

The 2012 edition of Indonesia’s biggest fashion event dazzled last November. As in other years, amidst the haute couture and prêt-à-porter, Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) also presented a number of Islamic collections. Hijabistas around the world have probably already heard of Shafira, a major Islamicwear label, and young, hip designer Dian Pelangi. However, Indonesia’s Islamic fashion industry offers much more. Here are some of the featured Islamic collections and the designers behind them at JFW 2012.
