No run-of-the-mill runways for Indonesia, who has yet again pinned itself onto the fashion world map. With magnificently lavish and heavily-detailed collections, Indonesia has set a precedent for other southeast Asian countries in its recent Jakarta Fashion Week.
The audience got a very first look at the collections by some local designers such as Tex Saverio, Fenny Mustafa, Oscar Lawalata and many more. Collections that very much paired precise tailoring with glamour and high fashion were seen across the week of wonders.
With sumptuous, gleaming layers of brocade, lace and satin, laid out in beautiful tailoring, the collections were all about decadence and near-mythical regal glamour. Extreme boldness hit the runway.
Designers pushed boundaries to come up with modern and chic creations, that appeal to Muslimahs without necessarily coming from classically Islamic designs. Expect tailed capes, Grecian-cut dresses, rich embroidered fabrics, bewitching silhouettes, and not forgetting structured traditional songket pieces throughout the collections.
