The city’s Hijabers Community is back with Hijab Day – a festival to encourage a modest way of life. Najwa Abdullah has the details.
Following its success last year, attracting over 6,000 people, the Jakarta Hijabers Community Hijab Day is set to dazzle again this year on 27 April at Skeeno Hall in Gandaria City shopping mall.
With thousands of followers across the bustling city, Hijab Day sets itself apart from other modest wear festivals in Indonesia with not only a high-end fashion parade, but also soul-nourishing talk shows, self-help workshops and a charity auction.
Keeping with the theme Happiness, this year’s event hopes to bring about harmony of the mind, body and soul for hijab-wearing women in Indonesia. Besides a fashion show from Zalora Indonesia, guests can also enjoy talk shows on topics ranging from beauty and health to Islamic parenting.
The speakers hosting the interactive talk shows are talented fashion designer Dian Pelangi and senior hijabi icon Inneke Koesherawati.
Other Indonesian hijabi celebrities such as Alyssa Soebandono, Zaskia Sungkar and Lulu Elhasbu are also ready to inspire crowds with discussions on faith, love, and beauty.
Hijabi mothers can look forward to the Islamic Parenting mini-seminar with the founder of The Urban Mama, Ninit Yunita.
For ardent lovers of photography, there will be a Photography 101 workshop by Bani Amir and Diera Bachir.
The event will also treat the audience to a concert featuring Puput Utami, Fatima Voice and Puteri Hasanah Karunia as well as a modest fashion bazaar with over 100 vendors.
Celebrities and guests may also join the charity auction programme by donating quality clothes and hijabs.
