Looking fabulous is not only about the clothes that others see us wear, but also how what lies beneath feels on us.
Choosing the right undergarments is important. Ill-fitting bras can be a great source of discomfort. Statistics have shown time and again that a majority of women are not wearing the right bras.
You are not wearing the right bra if:
- You get red marks on your skin from the bra straps
- You keep adjusting the straps, which often slide down
- Your breasts bulge out from the top or sides of the bra
- Your bra band rides up
- The joint of the bra cups does not rest against your breastbone
As a rough guide, your band size (the two digits in a bra size) is the measurement of your torso taken just below your bust. Exhale when you take this measurement or you will end up with a loose band.
To determine your cup size, take the measurement around the fullest part of your bust. Subtract this from your band size. One full inch represents one cup size. So if the difference between the two measurements is 2 inches, then you need to wear a B cup.
Here are two tips to help you determine the right fit for you:
- There should not be a gap between the joint of the bra cups and your breastbone. If you can see a gap, then the bra is too big for you
- Hook your thumbs under the sides of the bra, just under your arms and right next to the underwire support. If your thumbnails are pressing against breast tissues, then you will need a bigger cup
Always try on a bra before buying. Sexy or not, comfort is of utmost importance.
