The recent ready-to-wear collection by Karen Walker caught Muslim fashionistas by surprise with headscarf-friendly ensembles. By Shea Rasol.
Even though I’m sure Karen Walker’s Spring 2015 collection wasn’t particularly dedicated to hijabi Muslimahs worldwide, the runway ensembles certainly give us the impression that scarf-clad girls are to be appreciated once again.
Inspired by all things vintage and garden-inspired, the collection exudes the modest femininity of the women of yesteryear, while playing with sweet floral palettes like pastel blue, canary yellow and smoked grey. With midi dresses, wicker bags, scarves and a hat, these prim and proper designs will appeal to many young Muslimahs today.
